The late Dagbon overlord, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani gave a piece of land to the Association of People with Disabilities in Yendi. This enabled the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to put up a structure to serve as a resource center for the people with disabilities. It was to be used as a meeting venue and a training center for people with disabilities to acquire skills to improve their livelihoods. Although the structure has been there for many years, it is yet to serve its intended purpose.

At present, the land that hosts this structure is under threat from encroachers. The threat is so real that if nothing is done and done quickly, the land could be completely taken over by these encroachers in no time. It is in response to this threat of encroachment that our Foundation is partnering with the Yendi Municipal Assembly to secure the land by fencing it. We are also committed to working with our partners at the Municipal Assembly to develop the center into a more befitting skills training and historical support center for people with disabilities. When this is done, the center can serve PWDs from all over the Norhern region and not only Yendi.
